FAQ - BROW TATTOOING
Feather Touch vs Ombre Brows
The technique is often comparable to Feather Touch Tattooing as they both are long-lasting. However, Ombre will last quite a bit longer (up to 2 years) and it differs as it creates a lightly tinted/filled-in finish as opposed to Feather Touch Tattooing’s microblading hair-like strokes.
Pre-treatment preparation?
To ensure your brows and skin is in the best condition prior to treatment, please avoid the following 2 weeks ahead of your appointment: excessive sun exposure, facials, skin peels, Botox and other injectables, blood thinning medication, skincare containing active ingredients such as retinol. One week before the treatment, please avoid ibuprofen and aspirin, multivitamins, brow waxing, tinting and henna. We also recommend no alcohol, caffeinated drinks, chilli or spices 48 hours prior to treatment.
What will they look like post-treatment?
When you first get your Ombre Brows done, the pigment will be darker at first for most (or if you’re blonde or a red head it could be on the bright side). Clients also may experience some tenderness, slight swelling and/or a tingling sensation. But don’t be alarmed, after several weeks the scabbing will peel off and the brows will appear 30% lighter to give a more natural-looking finish. Then at the 4-6 week mark, a touch-up appointment is required and once it heals, you’ll be left with your true colour pigment. Exciting times.
How long do they take to heal?
With any healing process, it’s going to vary person to person and will be influenced by factors such as your age, your skin condition, whether you bruise easily, your hormones and circulation, medication and more. On average, this process will take about 2-3 weeks so we encourage you to sit tight and trust the process!
Is there any aftercare required?
We recommend applying a healing ointment for the first 1-2 weeks post treatment which you’ll need to apply twice a day until healed. It’s also important to be very gentle when cleaning your brows (no scrubbing!) in the days following treatment and cleanse with water only. After a few weeks when you resume your skincare regime, remember to use SPF to protect your brows and skin, however you will need to avoid exfoliants and active skin care such as retinol on the brows.
Who isn’t a suitable candidate for Ombre brows?
All clients need to be over the age of 18. Ombre brows are not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women, those that are taking oral acne medication, have had chemotherapy or radiation treatment in the last six months, have HIV/AIDS, and those that a prone to keloid scars.
